In recent years, the RUAG innovation organization has supported the company in addressing future threat scenarios from a technological perspective, tapping into alternative business fields, and establishing a new culture of innovation. The solutions and projects thus developed in the area of secure and mobile communication boast relevant future potential and are of specific relevance to future projects to be conducted by various security organizations. For these reasons, the corresponding activities, together with the “Open Innovation” sub-area and the established innovation instruments, will be continued in a newly created program organization. Consequently, RUAG is to create 11 new jobs at the Lausanne site and is thus strengthening its presence in Western Switzerland. The newly created jobs have requirements profiles that do not currently exist within the company.
The Innovation Organization has made a far-reaching contribution to developing our new business strategy and enabling its implementation. As such, the organization has fulfilled its originally defined mandate. In innovation management it is standard practice for central innovation organizations to be dissolved as soon as the broad research stage is complete and the most promising projects have been identified. RUAG is now also following this common process and reintegrating innovation implementation into existing parts of the organization.
The planned dissolution of the innovation organization will result in the cutting of a maximum of 35 jobs at five different sites. For all those employees who lose their jobs, internal solutions will be sought or comprehensive support services offered.
The consultation procedure run by the company’s internal Employee Representation is currently ongoing.
