Construction work on the new EMC Hall in Thun began in October 2021. The work progressed according to plan, with only minor delays due to corona-related difficulties in the supply of materials. With a delay of only half a year, the hall could be put into operation in March 2023.
About two thirds of the hall is taken up by the large test hall, where RUAG tests a wide range of products for electromagnetic compatibility. The test laboratory is certified and registered with the relevant federal agency.
Part of the floor of the hall, which measures twenty by twelve meters, can support a weight of up to 75 tons - so employees can relax even when a Genie tank comes in for testing. In addition, with a hall height of eleven meters, antennas or excavator shovels attached to large systems can be extended without any problems.
One third of the hall is taken up by two somewhat smaller test halls of armasuisse Science and Technology.
Cooperation between the experts from RUAG and armasuisse takes place at eye level and numerous synergies can be exploited.
