The work-study Bachelor’s degree program (PiBS) is aimed at people with an academic baccalaureate who have enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering and who would like to gain valuable professional experience in a part-time role throughout the duration of their studies. The work and tasks at RUAG are matched to the course content wherever possible and appropriate.

OUR PiBS AND AREAS OF APPLICATION

Degree in Computer Science:
- System engineering
- ICT services
- Software engineering

Degree in Mechanical Engineering:
- Design engineering
- Support in the development of mechanical and electronic assemblies
- Support in the development of complete systems (containers, wheeled/tracked vehicles)

Depending on your interests and our internal circumstances, it may be possible to gain an insight into other areas.

Place of work
In the first year of your studies, you will complete a basic training program at the Berufsbildungscenter Bern (vocational training center). After that, you will work at our Thun site. (Only applies to the PiBS degree program in Computer Science)

Level of employment and duration
The minimum level of employment is 40 percent. This corresponds to two working days, which can be distributed flexibly over the weekdays in coordination with your timetable and your line manager. You must start working for us before or at the beginning of your Bachelor’s degree so that you can work for us for the entire four years of your studies in a fixed-term employment relationship.

Support
For the entire duration of your employment with us, you will be supported by an experienced mentor. This person will be your first point of contact. Of course, someone from the Human Resources team will be available if you have any questions or comments regarding HR-related matters.

Salary
We offer you a standardized and attractive annual salary. It will be communicated during the application process.

Application and start
Our available positions for the work-study Bachelor’s degree program (PiBS) are advertised year-round. We only consider applications that reach us via our job portal. Please note that applicants who are shortlisted for the work-study Bachelor’s degree program (PiBS) will be invited to an assessment day at one of our sites. On this day, applicants will be given various tasks to solve, get to know our mentors and be asked a few questions.

The start date varies between August and September. It will be specified in the application process.
